In my third year at UW, I have been trying new things while also trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I have continued working at the OWRC as a writing tutor. However, I was also asked to be on the leadership team and be in charge of a program for international/multilingual students, called Targeted Learning Communities. I accepted, and it’s been a great experience! I also joined the UW Climbing Team, and have been enjoying the challenge of competitive rock climbing and making new friends. Finally, I have really been immersing myself in environmental science classes. One thing that really encapsulates my desire to both “send it” and give myself grace is my decision to take time for myself this year. This quarter and next quarter, I’ve been taking fewer credits. I’m purposely trying to slow myself down a bit, so that I have time to make room for the things that are important to me. I’ve been volunteering, skiing a lot, and still working a lot. Next quarter I really hope to get an internship at an environmental nonprofit.
